# Acceptable Use Policy

What nobody may do with Cactus: what may be connected and published, how Cactus may be used and asked, and what happens when the policy is broken.

Cactus reads code and answers people for the teams that use it. This is what nobody may do with it.

## Who it applies to

Everyone who uses Cactus: the people on a team, the people who read a Help Center or write through the Messenger, and the agents and AI clients that connect to Cactus.

It is part of the [Terms of Service](/terms). A team answers for its own people following it.

## What you connect

- Connect only sources you have the right to share with Cactus.
- Do not connect personal data you were not allowed to collect, or are not allowed to share.
- Do not connect payment card numbers, health records or government ID numbers, or a source that exists to hold them. Cactus is not built to hold them.

## What you publish

Do not use Cactus to write, publish or send:

- Anything unlawful, or anything that helps someone else break the law.
- Anything that infringes someone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights.
- Anything meant to deceive: phishing, fake reviews, or pretending to be someone you are not.
- Harassment, threats, or anything that promotes violence or hatred against people for who they are.
- Any sexual content involving children.
- Malware, or links to it.
- Spam, including messages sent in bulk to people who did not ask for them.

## How you use Cactus

Do not:

- Try to reach another team's pages, conversations or code, or anything your own role does not open to you.
- Probe, scan or attack Cactus, or try to get around its sign-in or its limits. If you find a security problem, report it as the [Trust Center](/security) says.
- Send Cactus so many requests that it slows down for others.
- Copy Cactus, take its software apart, or use it to build a product that competes with it.
- Resell access to Cactus without our written agreement.

## Asking Cactus

Do not try to make Cactus ignore its rules, show what it should not, or act against the team it works for, such as by hiding instructions in a question, a page or a file it reads.

Reading a published Help Center, its llms.txt, its markdown pages or its public MCP address is welcome, for people and agents alike, at a pace that keeps it quick for everyone else.

## What happens when it is broken

We may remove what breaks this policy, stop Cactus reading a source, take a Help Center or the Messenger offline, or suspend a team. We tell the team's Owners what we did and why, unless the law or the risk stops us.

Where the law requires it, we report what we find to the authorities.

Tell us about misuse at [hello@heycactus.ai](mailto:hello@heycactus.ai). You do not need an account to write to us.

This page is a working draft. A lawyer has not reviewed it yet, and its words may change when one does. Questions about it go to [hello@heycactus.ai](mailto:hello@heycactus.ai).
