Set rule audiences, review the pages they affect, and learn writing guidance from your team's content.

Keep pages in your style

Rules that apply to page writing guide every Help Center page. Cactus rewrites existing pages when a rule changes their wording, and pages written later follow it. Rules learned from your writing guide page writing and answers.

Review your rules

In Settings › Rules, review each rule and open Pages this reaches to see the affected pages.

  • The instruction, any quoted text, where it was said, its audience, who set it and when, or whether Cactus learned it

  • Page progress and cited sections

Audience choices

Each rule's audience can be Both, Customer, or Internal.

Choose an audience

  1. In Settings › Rules, choose a rule's audience under Audience.

Retire a rule

  1. In Settings › Rules, select Retire on a rule.

Cactus stops applying the rule and reconciles affected pages. It doesn't restore the previous wording.

Learn from your writing

  1. In Settings › Rules, select Learn from my writing.

Cactus reads your team's replies, Help Center, and site, then adds any guidance it finds as learned rules. The page reports when a learned rule appears or learning fails. If it's still reading, the page says the rules will appear here when it's done.

Manage pending work

Pending work lists rule changes waiting to run, with each item's instruction, action, scope, and affected pages. The page also indicates when it's writing pages from the current pass.

Generate pending work

  1. In Settings › Rules, select Generate now to run the pending batch.

The control is unavailable when there's no pending work or pages are already writing. If a pass is already running, Cactus reports that.

Cancel all pending work

  1. In Settings › Rules, select Cancel pending to cancel all cancelable work that hasn't begun.

  1. In Settings › Rules, select Cancel on a cancelable item.
